Saturday, October 4th, 2008Trip #4 – La Plage (The Beach!)
Monday, September 22nd, 2008When I was asked what I missed most about Australia I answered “the beach” – it’s the one thing I can’t find any replacement for here in Toulouse, I found it by heading East though…
Trip #3 – Canal du Midi – A Bike Tour of Southern France
Monday, September 22nd, 2008So, here is the third chapter of my holidays:
Roughly 250 kilometers by bicycle following the Canal du Midi from Toulouse until its arrival at Séte (with a detour to Narbonne to see the Tour de France and dip our toes into the sea). (more…)
Trip #2 – England!
Monday, September 22nd, 2008Firstly, I know I haven’t finished the Eurotrip entry, but I’m going to finish up to nowadays before I go back and tie up that end!
This trip has 4 little chapters, the first one comes down to a combination complete stupidity and complete and utter luck, In retrospect though I can almost look at it without cringing. (more…)
Trip #1 – Eurotrip (3/06/08-14/06/08)
Saturday, July 26th, 2008
Please note that this post is under construction.
The things in red require research to back up. This was written off the top of my head almost two months after the event. I’ll do my best to refine it again and again as I go through my photos and notes, and I’ll be adding photos too. Somehow I took 2400 pictures on Eurotrip which will need refining, resizing and selecting. If anything is distinctly wrong (i.e. I mix up countries/cities/churches) please let me know. There are a few days of the trip still to be recounted, they will come soon.
For now, enjoy the first of my major trips in 2008! (more…)
Paris
Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008I’m in Paris using my iPod to write a quick hi. The city is amazing, speaking the language is a blast and all in all loving the place. Off to Reims tomorrow. Will write more when I get onto a real computer. Take care!
Je ne suis pas mort!
Friday, May 30th, 2008Its been a long time without writing on this blog, but this post is just to confirm that I’m still here, alive and thriving. I have many a story to tell and this blog will need filling in but unfortunately this wont happen before the 15th of June – until then I am:
In Paris between the 1st and 3rd of June
Travelling around Germany, Austria, Italy and France between the 3rd and 14th of June
Recovering on the 15th with coffee at dawn in Toulouse (might be DIY coffee seeing as it will be dawn and a Sunday -if anyone can find me a cafe open at that time I’ll love them forever).
Back on the homefront I’ve been staying with a second family this week while my normal host family is half in Spain and half on a business trip. It means I’ve moved closer to school which is convenient as this is my last week at Victor Hugo – tomorrow is my last day (last period is going to be a party and I’m bringing the tim tams). I spent the last weekend at the Med dipping my feet in the icey water and dodging the storms and hail that magically appeared whenever somebody said “beach?”. On the way back we farewelled some of the Northies (Northern Hemisphere Exchangies) who will be leaving before we get the chance to see them again. Kind of signifies a change from being the new guys to being the old ones who will have to train the next generation. On that tangent, the next lot numbers 15 which will make 18 kids for district 1700 – a new record. As is tradition in France only 3 of those 15 students are male (here in Toulouse male exchange students are a rarity – i hear they head to Brazil).
That’s enough of a rant – I’m typing on a French keyboard (azerty and the 7 8 9 and 0 buttons have four possible options) so I’m forced to hunt and peck for keys.
I’ll be in touch soon and will recap my life to date and the voyage ahead of me. My suitcase is splayed out on the floor next to me and it’s impossible to not smile when I look at it – In less than 48 hours I’ll be on my way to the heart of France. I’ve been there before – but this time I’ll be speaking French
J’espère que tout va bien en Australie. (ou votre pays), à bientôt!!

Mon Deuxieme Vacances Ici
Friday, April 18th, 2008It’s Spring and I’m on holidays
This year there has been more rain than usual, so we average 1 fantastic day for every 3 that are cold, windy and rainy. Still, the 1 fantastic day is always great. I’ve been going into Toulouse, partaking in a cooking course and playing the guitar on the side of the river with the other Exchangies. I will have my first guitar lesson ever on Tuesday – it will be in half English / half French.. Should be good
After next week I have five weeks of school, Eurotrip, one week of school and then the July/August vacation. In other words – it already feels like time is going quickly! I re-read this blog with my host mother last night. She told me how my French entry was meant to be written, which accentuated the language barrier somewhat. Still, the language is improving with time more and more.
